Easter Break

Over the Easter holidays I did some woodwork. The project I had created was a box for all my hair things with little compartments. There was a lot of measuring and making sure I was accurate but I got there in the end. The first thing I needed to do was measure my draws so I could actually get my box to fit. Next I had to pick a good wood to use and then measure the length in which I needed it to be. Then we got the hammer the nails and the drill out and started to drill the holes for the nails. After that I sanded the edges so the paint would go on nicely. When I had finished that I chucked on some old clothes and put the base coat of paint on. Then I waited for it to dry. As it was drying I started making a chalk board for the fence around the backyard. It’s sort of the same process. First I cut the ply wood to the right size, then I sanded it with the electric sander and made it smooth. Then I put on the base coat of paint and waited for it to dry. It dried a lot quicker then my other project though. After that it started to rain so i put my box in the garage and left my chalk board on the lawn. Lucky I had put the first coat of chalk board paint on my ply. In  the morning I went out to the shed to put the next coat of paint on my box. The colour I had chosen was a french white and it went really well with my draws. I put the last coat on my chalk board and the last coat of paint on my box the next day. Then we hung up the chalk board and put the box in my draw and I was finished.

Middle Earth

Middle Earth

In the second week of the holidays I went with my brother and my cousins to Middle Earth with my aunty.
Middle Earth is a place in Palmerston North and it’s like a playground in the woods. There are fairy gardens connected to
the woods and there are places you can eat at. The playground materials are just recycled woods, plastic and old machines
and boats that had the engine taken out of them. People make huts and there is surely over 50 there.

Before we got to middle earth we got McDonalds for lunch. We stayed at Middle Earth for about an hour and a half. Me and
my cousin bailey met someone there but I forgot her name... Oops!

There was a hill in the middle of the forest were most of the huts were and although there were lots of huts at least half of them weren't finished. We found my brother's hut that he had built the time before and the sad thing was that some of it got destroyed, so we all got some sticks and helped him rebuild it.

We started playing this game and it was a bit like a fun war (my team won). The teams were the three boys
(my brother Mason and my to cousins Lewis and Mitchel) vs us three girls. When it was time to leave we said goodbye to our
friend and walked back to the car.

On the way to the car we walked past a fairy garden and everyone made a wish. The boys were so cute with their wishes.
We got to the car got everyone in and were on our way home. We were all so tired and it felt like a long way home.

Middle Earth is so much fun and I recommend going there.
